My research in New York is based on the idea of smooth and striated spaces.
Smooth meaning amorphous, nomadic and striated meaning metric, measurable,

Iceland.
It bends and curves naturally alongside mountains and water and reaches its
natural shape by eluding the obstacles it passes on its way.

New York is quite the opposite.
With its rigid grid city planning
New York represents a space
of striation to its maximum.
