KR-I (Safe Haven)
Die fotografischen Arbeiten von Sebastian Forkarth (*1985 in Herdecke) beschäftigen sich mit nationaler Identität und den Methoden der Generierung derselben. Welche Symbole führen zu dem Gefühl von Gemeinschaft und wer erschafft eben diese für wen? Wie entstehen ethnisch homogene Räume? Der Naturraum wird dabei stets „als mythologischer Ursprungsort und dessen legitimierende Wechselbeziehung zu jenem des politisch besetzten urbanen Raumes“ (S. Forkarth) verstanden.
Im Rahmen des fotografischen Langzeitprojektes ‘KR-I (Safe Haven)’ plante er nun zum vierten Mal in die ‘Autonome Region Kurdistan’ zu reisen. Forkarths Interesse gilt hier dem Spannungsfeld zwischen politischer und geografischer Realität auf der einen und eines konstruierten Staatsmythos auf der anderen Seite. Abschließend soll die Arbeit in Kollaboration mit Forscherinnen aus den Disziplinen ‘Internationale Beziehungen’ und ‘Entwicklungsstudien’ als Buch herausgegeben werden.
